David J. Boczar, CFP®, CFA has over 35 years experience in the global financial services industry in equity and fixed-income investment research, market strategy, institutional asset management, advisory, compliance, management and banking.

Professional:

David is the founder of Emerald Wealth Advisors, a boutique private wealth management firm located in Westport, Connecticut. Emerald Wealth Advisors services the needs of its clients in a uniquely personalized manner. David is instrumental in maximizing his clients' wealth accumulation and preservation, and assisting them to achieve their financial goals and objectives. In 2022 Emerald Wealth partnered with Bay Colony Advisors, a leading private wealth management firm located in Concord, Massachusetts, that specializes in working with independent advisors and entities, providing centralized resources and solutions.

David was previously affiliated with Westport Resources, a private wealth management firm located in Westport, CT, and before this, the Connecticut Agency, an office of MetLife Financial Services, where he began developing his client-focused financial planning practice.

Prior to working with individuals and families, David was extensively involved in the global institutional financial services business. He began his securities analysis career at a leading life insurance company in the early 1980's working on private placements and conducting credit analysis on the firm's bond portfolio. He joined an independent bond rating agency in New York in 1983 where his analysis focused on the newly-separated Bell operating companies and the telecom industry.

From 1987 to 1994 David was affiliated with a leading Japanese financial services firm in NY to develop their U.S. equities research presence and drive their expansion in U.S. and international securities markets. He became Head of U.S. Equities research at this firm and also assisted in the management of the company's dollar-denominated U.S. equities portfolio.

Following this assignment, David was affiliated with a research boutique/investment bank in Westport, CT where he developed a mid- to large-cap value research capability for U.S. and European institutional investors. He expanded his responsibilities by becoming Head of Compliance, Chief Operating Officer, UK-subsidiary Branch Manager, and assuming general oversight of this firm.

- CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, February 2004.

- Certificate in Cellular Radio Technology, University of Wisconsin College of Engineering, 1988.

- MBA degree in Finance/Certificate in International Business, Seton Hall University, 1987.

- BA degrees in English and Business Administration, Rutgers University, 1981.

Professional Affiliations/Credentials:

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, David is a member of the Financial Planners Association (FPA), the CFA Institute, the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), the Stamford CFA Society, and is a former Board Member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society (FIASI).

David also has CT Life & Health Agent license, a Long-Term Care Partnership certification, and a Property & Casualty license (CT). 

Published works include co-authorship of Interactive Multimedia, by the New Japan Research Institute (Japan, 1994). David has contributed expertise on various topics in the financial media and has appeared on financial news television and radio broadcasts.

Organizations/Civic Involvement:

Active in the local community, David is a long-time Board Member of the Easton Exchange Club (a national organization dedicated to raising funds for the prevention of child abuse and other causes); and is Treasurer of the Easton Boy Scouts Troop 66.  He previously served as Chairman of the Custodian of the Trust Funds for the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield, CT for many years; was a past-Treasurer of the Easton Republican Town Committee; had served on the pension retirement committee for Easton-Redding Regional School District #9; was a member of the Westport-Weston, CT Chamber of Commerce; served as Committee Chair of the Welcome Club of Fairfield/Easton; was on the Board of Easton Girls Softball and involved in coaching in both Easton Girls Softball and Easton Little League; and was a former President and Vice President of the Theta Chi Alumni Corp. of Rutgers University.

David is married and has two children. He and his family reside in Easton, CT.
